Empowered: One Planet at a Time will be used as a textbook to complement the curriculum of a higher level course, NR478 Environmental Issues Investigation and Action, in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The course may be taken by undergraduate and graduate students majoring or minoring in natural resource management, environmental education, and those seeking teacher certification with an environmental education minor. In the course, students select and implement actions to resolve issues through political, economic, legal, educational, and lifestyle avenues. The course is being taught by Dr. Rebecca L. Franzen, Associate Professor of Environmental Education in the College of Natural Resources and Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education.
“Solving environmental and social issues start when leaders step up,” said Author Patty Dreier. “One of the most important things we can do for the next generation who will lead our communities and countries is to prepare them to be courageous and confident leaders who know how to help resolve issues. That’s what Empowered: One Planet at a Time is all about. It empowers readers to see themselves as capable of leading the way on issues that matter to them. When they courageously step up and stand up, it can be a change maker for the planet and themselves.”
This week marks the one-year anniversary of the global release of Empowered: One Planet at a Time published by Author Academy Elite. The book is available through Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kindred Spirit Books on Main Street in Stevens Point, and as a fundraiser for the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
