The Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) is partnering with Patty Dreier to offer a councilwide training program using a book Dreier authored as the toolkit for action on social and environmental issues. The interactive program is called “Girl Scouts Empowered for Action!” and Dreier will lead the program. It will be held virtually for girls and leaders from 10 a.m. - Noon on Saturday, January 21, 2023. There are 250 slots available for the program. Every participant will receive an autographed paperback copy of Empowered: One Planet at a Time and a colorful bookmark created from the illustrations commissioned for the book.
Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes was formed in 2008 as part of a nationwide organizational realignment. Today, the Council is made of what had been six separate councils. It partners with over 5,000 volunteers to serve nearly 16,000 girls in 58 counties across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
“The outreach of this program and its potential impacts are significant,” said Dreier. “Everyone who attends this workshop will receive a copy of Empowered which will be a resource they can use for years to come as they take action in their communities and the wider world. It will aid them on their journey as they continue to develop leadership skills and make the world a better place.”
